What is a finiquito in Mexico?
The finiquito is the final settlement of amounts already earned: prorated aguinaldo (15 days per year), vacation days not taken under the 2023 vacation table, and the 25% vacation premium on those days. Every employee gets a finiquito when employment ends, including on resignation.
On unjustified dismissal, the liquidación adds three more lines: 90 days of integrated daily salary, 20 days per year of service, and the seniority premium of 12 days per year, capped for high earners at twice the daily minimum wage. The calculator shows each line separately so you can check it against your final payslip.
Why a calculator for Mexico, in English?
Mexico's rules mix several concepts (daily salary, integrated daily salary, UMA-based tax exemptions) that are hard to combine by hand, and most Spanish sources assume you already know the LFT. This calculator is written in English so workers and employers who search in English can still check a Mexican settlement.
The calculator is free, needs no account, and runs entirely in your browser. It shows gross amounts; the tax split (ISR exemptions in 2026) is explained on the calculator page.
Frequently asked questions about Mexico
What calculators does Calcotia offer for Mexico?
For Mexico, Calcotia offers one calculator: the finiquito calculator, which computes the final settlement (prorated aguinaldo, unused vacation and the 25% vacation premium) and, for unjustified dismissal, the extra liquidación (90-day indemnity, 20 days per year and the seniority premium).
Do I get a finiquito if I resign in Mexico?
Yes. The finiquito (prorated aguinaldo, unused vacation and the vacation premium) is owed whenever employment ends, including on resignation. What you do not get on resignation is the liquidación: the 90-day indemnity, the 20 days per year and the seniority premium are only owed on unjustified dismissal.
What is the difference between finiquito and liquidación?
The finiquito settles amounts you already earned: aguinaldo, vacation and the vacation premium. The liquidación is extra compensation for unjustified dismissal: 90 days of integrated daily salary, 20 days per year of service, and the seniority premium of 12 days per year, capped at twice the daily minimum wage for high earners.
Is the Mexico calculator free?
Yes. Every Calcotia calculator is free, works instantly in the browser and needs no account or sign-up. The result is a gross amount; tax withholding (ISR) depends on your cumulative income and is explained, not computed, on the calculator page.
