Why Calcotia exists
How much sick pay will I get? What is my holiday pay this June? What is my severance worth after ten years? These questions are answered by law in every country, but the law is written for lawyers, not for the person waiting on the money. Calcotia turns those official rules into simple calculators: you enter your numbers, and you see not just the answer, but the full working behind it.
How we build each calculator
Every calculator on this site starts from the official source in its country: the labour law, the social insurance institution or the government guidance that employers and payroll offices actually use. We take the current rates, caps and thresholds for the year shown on the page, build the formula exactly as the rule states it, and then test the calculator against worked examples before it goes live. Each page links the official sources it is based on, so you can verify the rule yourself.
Each country section is written in that country's language, because that is the language people search in when the question is about their own pay. A Norwegian looking for holiday pay should not have to read English to understand Norwegian rules.
What Calcotia is not
Our calculators give careful estimates based on the standard rules. They are not legal, tax or financial advice, and they cannot cover every special case in a long career. For a binding figure, the official body in your country, your employer's payroll office or a local adviser is the final word. Where a calculator simplifies a rule, the page says so openly.
